Last night Jeff and I had planned on going out to Texas Roadhouse (my favorite) for my birthday dinner and he mentioned wanting to stop over at my studio, just a couple miles away, to see it all set up for my Spring sessions. I was both excited for one of my favorite meals and to show off my studio that was cleaned up and organized earlier this week.
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and time with Jeff at dinner. We then headed over to the studio where I was completely shocked by a surprise 40th birthday party, planned by Jeff, with friends and family. He had a special birthday cake made for me with a Canon camera on the top complete with a photo of him and I on the back screen!
It was then revealed to me that he with the help of my assistant and very good friend, Michelle, had been planning this together for about a month! Then the little details (and little white lies to pull it off) started all making sense! I was so overwhelmed by the awesome gesture of love!
I spent a few minutes saying hello to everyone and trying to catch my breath after the big surprise. Then Ray, Michelle's super funny yet very patient husband, made a toast. I couldn't understand why he would be the one toasting so I'm sure I looked quite confused. Jeff then interrupted him and the biggest surprise of the night was right in front of me. My love asked me to marry him!!! I of course said yes! (3 times)
Only Michelle, my mom, and his daughter, Cheyenne, knew his plan. It was so amazing that he was able to keep it a secret and it was wonderful to share this amazing moment with my friends and family who all mirrored my surprise and excitement.
I want to take a moment to thank a few people.
First to Jeff, who always wants to give me the very best in life. Planning the party and including my friends and family was one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever received. The proposal and sharing that moment with everyone there was simply amazing! I am so excited to share my life with you. You've made me whole again. I love you very much!
To Michelle, who keeps Rebecca Groller Photography running on a daily basis! I know you are one of my biggest cheerleaders and love that you've become so much more. You are one of my closest friends and it is only fitting that you were Jeff's right-hand girl when planning this party as well as being there to calm his nerves all week. I'm forever grateful for the role you play in my life.
To Lori, one of my besties who after working a full day of shooting photo sessions came and took photos of the party and proposal. You've taken so many photos for me that are so cherished! Thank you for doing this for me again and always being there by my side to celebrate!
To my mom, who without hesitation, always shows up to help with any task! I am blessed to have been raised by such a strong independent person who showed me that hard work in life always pays off. Thank you for being my rock and inspiration!
To all of my other family and friends, thank you for your support and unending love. You are all so important in my life and you each play a role in helping me to be the person I am today. I am eternally grateful for each of you.
Jeff was brought into my life after a very difficult time. He has shown me how to be happy again and I too have brought happiness to his life. I truly know we are meant to spend the rest of our lives together. I look forward to the happy times to come while never forgetting all the events and people in my past that have impacted my life and brought me to where I am today. I am so excited for our happily ever after!
P.S.- If Lori and I have ever photographed your wedding, we probably have a photo like this... PRETENDING to test the cake. Sorry, not sorry. LOL
